In 1992, I moved to Charlottesville from Atlanta to join forces with Bill Henderson to form Henderson & Everett. Wade Hampton joined the firm in 2004 as a shareholder as Bill transitioned into retirement. Soon thereafter, we changed our firm name to Hampton & Everett. Over the years, Wade and I built H&E into one of the premier (if not the premier) CPA firm in the Charlottesville area. We have grown from two CPAs to a current accounting staff of nine. John Scaglione became a shareholder in 2017 and Andrew Mills will become a shareholder on January 1, 2021. I am very proud of the quality of our team and what we have grown into. But it is now time for me to step aside (just like Bill before me). I will be fully retiring from the firm on December 31, 2020 after 28 years. While I will no longer be working with you, all of you have worked with other members of the firm, either directly or behind the scenes so the transition should be seamless. I am quite confident that your experience with H&E will be even better as we have brought on accountants smarter and sharper than me. Emma, Andrew, Sharolyn, Andy, Paige, Mike, John and Wade will be there for you to help with your tax, accounting and financial needs just as I have been.
I have treasured my time serving you and it has been one of the most enriching parts of my life. I have been truly blessed to love what I did for a living. Not many can say that. Thank you for making that happen.
